Coffee and Questions Meetup Group
|
Meet with others interested in progressive Christianity. We will meet to discuss a different Christian topic once per month this summer, but will also have a few fun field trips and outings to get to know each other a little better. In our discussions, we examine each in light of history, scripture, and experience so we can think for ourselves and deepen our spiritual lives. We welcome anyone open minded about Christianity and open to questioning traditional beliefs or practices. Gather to talk, share, learn, and build community in a safe environment.

"Hi David, we missed you last week. Hope all is well. Take care! "
-
"Called myself Christian Left for years, but Jim Wallis, whom I respect a lot, says that sounds like a political group, with all the potential for excess and divisiveness of the Christian Right. Maybe Progressive is the term I need."
-
"Welcome to the group, David! Hope to see you tomorrow evening."
-
"Hope you can make it tomorrow night. Been missing your input!"
-
"Hello. I consider myself a progressive Christian. I'm eager to find a church home with others who share my belief that all are welcome in God's house. I look forward to learning more, growing in my spirituality and challenging my faith."
-
"Maura, we missed you at Java Vino the last couple of times. Hope you're well and that we see you again soon. I listened to NPR that night and the next morning but, sadly, I never heard our stellar interview! Take Care!"
-
"I've been at Va-Hi Church for 10 months. It's healthy and courageous to question God and to look for God in non-traditional ways. "

"Hi, sorry I'm just now joining. Wedding planning, Rich's move and work are keeping me pretty busy."
-
"Hello, I'm a nurse who works every weekend, so cannot attend church. I would define myself as Christian, yet I'm not in alliance with much of the current religious doctrine. I'd love to be part of a group where questions and discussion are welcome. "
-
"Hi! This sounds a group for me! "
-
"I've been attending Virginia-Highland Church since February 2007 and I love the JavaVino group discussions!"
-
"I grew up in the Southern Baptist church, but have since broken with them over doctrine and just about everything else. I love non-traditional theologies and am open to just about anything. Let's discuss!!"

"Hi, guys! I love the discussions at Coffee and Questions, and the cheese platter is pretty good, too!"
